This activity allows you to create some team identity while you are learning how to edit, find photos that are copyright free, embed those photos and properly source them.

Instructions for the Activity



  1. Take a couple minutes to introduce yourself to everyone in the group. In round robin style share your name, your position and school/organization, and give one or two adjectives that best describes your personality. You can share why if you want.
  2. Once everyone has introduced themselves talk about, based on what you know, about the make-up of your group- what idea, concept, animal or famous person would best be used as a team symbol and why.
  3. Use this site http://search.creativecommons.org/ to search for a picture based on your keyword.
  4. Put your search term in the top box with the green background.
  5. Click on "works I can modify"
  6. Click on Google
  7. Make sure the "Search only pages that are free to use share or modify" is selected
  8. Click Image results for ....
  9. Find the picture you want, click on it and right click (or Control-Click) and choose "save image as" and save to your desktop.
  10. Then click on your team link on the left side navigation bar to edit your page edit your page Example: Team 6
  11. Browse for your picture and click "upload"
  12. Double click to embed your team photo
  13. Give your team a name
  14. Have photo source listed on page like this: photo credit: url
